음운론의 기본개념들을 다루고 실제 수어 자료들을 통해 수어의 음운분석 능력을 갖도록 한다.

수어에서 어휘가 형성되는 과정을 이해하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 형태소, 어휘생성규칙, 파생 및 굴절, 형태론과 음운론의 상관관계 등을 통해 어휘 생성의 기본 개념과 원리에 대해 명확히 터득하게 한다.

Explains the vocabularization process of sign language for proper understanding. This class also clarifies understanding of the basic concept and mechanism of sign language vocabularization by looking through phonemes, vocabularization rules, derivation and inflection, correlation between morphology and phonology, etc.

수어의 구문을 변형문법의 입장에서 규칙 및 원리체계의 틀을 사용하여 다루며, 심층구조에서부터 표면구조의 도출관계를 현대영어의 시각에서 분석하여 수어 구문에 대한 깊은 통찰력을 기르는데 주력한다.

Covers sign language structure within the frame of universal system and rules of generative grammar, trying to deliver deep insight into the structure with the analysis of the process from underlying structure to surface structure in the perspective of Modern English.

언어학을 전제로 음운론, 형태론, 통사론, 의미론 등, 언어학 이론을 수어 교수에 적용하여 여러 가지 실용적인 과업에 활용하는 방법을 연구한다. 따라서 본 과정에서는 이론보다는 언어지식을 체계적으로 이해하고, 언어습득, 언어의 사회적 기능, 교과과정 설계, 교재 작성, 평가 등 수어 교수와 연관시키는 활동을 중심으로 학습한다.

Studies how theories of various fields of linguistics, such as phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, etc., can be used for more practical purposes by applying them to sign language teaching. With that in mind, this class focuses on understanding linguistic knowledge rather than linguistic theories, as well as it weighs mainly on the activities related to sign language teaching, such as language acquisition, social function of language, curriculum building, creating teaching material, evaluation, etc.

한국수어 문법의 체계와 특징을 탐구하고 한국수어 문법 교육의 내용과 방안을 모색한다.

Explores the system and characteristics of Korean Sign Language grammar and seeks proper contents and methods for the grammar education.

한국수어 어휘의 교육 능력을 갖추기 위해 어휘의 기본 개념, 어휘 교육의 목적 및 필요성을 이해하고 한국수어 어휘의 특성(어휘체계, 기본 어휘, 어휘구성, 유의어, 상/하위어 등)을 이해하는 것을 목표로 한다.

Makes the students properly understand the basic concept of sign language vocabulary, the purpose and necessity of vocabulary teaching, and the features of Korean Sign Language vocabulary, including the vocabulary system, basic vocabulary set, vocabulary construction, synonym, hypernym, hyponym, etc.

언어유형론(linguistic typology)은 친족관계에 있지 않은 다양한 언어들을 조사하여 귀납적인 방법에 의해 인간 언어에서 관찰되는 구조적 차이점과 한계를 살펴보고, 나아가 인간 언어의 보편성(universal)을 발견하고자 하는 언어 연구의 방법론이다. 이 과목은 언어유형론에 관한 개론과목으로, 여러 가지 문법현상들이 인간언어에서 어떻게 표현되고 있는지 그 구조적인 유사점과 차이점을 살펴보고, 이를 수어에 적용시켜 이해하고자 한다.

As a type of the methodologies in linguistic study, linguistic typology looks through various languages that are not from a same language family, inductively explores structural differences and limitations among them, and ultimately, seeks a universality of human languages. As an introductive course of linguistic typology, this class explores structural similarities and differences of various grammatical phenomena in human language when they occur in actual expression and finds out the way to understand them by application into sign language.

일상 생활에서의 수어사용과 개념화 체계, 그리고 세계관에 이르기까지에 중요한 영향을 미치는 인지 작용에 대해서 살펴보고 논의한다. 논의는 특히 범주화와 개념적 은유, 환유, 의미틀과 같은 인지 기제를 중심으로 이루어지며, 이들이 어떻게 확장되어 사용되는지 또한 포함한다.

Takes a closer look at and discusses cognitive workings that influence importantly on everyday use of sign language, its conceptualization system, and worldview on sign language. The discussion particularly focuses on categorization and cognitive mechanism, such as conceptual metaphor, metonymy, significant framework, etc., but it also covers how they are extended for practical usage.
